Ah, yes, coffee, the glorious brown liquid that helps us all get through the day. Our reliance on this magical fluid means that a reliable maker is of the utmost importance to ensure we keep getting our fix. This brings us to whether or not this maker is up to the task. Sit back and relax as I give you my honest Empstorm 12 cup programmable drip coffee maker review.

My Star Rating

The Interface

Although the interface didn’t have any weird or wonderful features, it has everything you need. All buttons are nicely displayed on the front of the machine and are very responsive – perfect for when you’re waking up in the morning and still half asleep.

There is also an easy-to-see clock on the front of the machine, another simple but good feature that helps set the Empstorm apart from the competition.

Cup Size

Obviously, brewing one cup of drip coffee is never going to be enough. Thankfully, this maker can make 12 cups at once. So, if you like a couple of cups in quick succession or you have a large family that all loves coffee, this machine is a good choice.

Anti-Drip Technology

Instead of waiting for the machine to finish brewing the coffee, you can pull out the coffee jug whenever you want to pour an urgent cup. Its anti-drip feature will pause the brewing process, preventing any mess. You can then put the jug back into the machine, and it will resume.

The convenience of this feature cannot be understated. I’d highly recommend that you find a drip maker that has it (whether it is this one or not); otherwise, I guarantee you will regret your decision!

Cleaning The Empstorm

It’s no secret: we all hate cleaning. Well, unless you’re my wife (don’t tell her I said that). Anyways, the Empstorm programmable drip coffee maker is very easy to clean – hurray!

You can easily put the carafe (made from glass), filter, and funnel in the dishwasher without fear of damaging them. The only other thing you need is to pour some water into the machine a few times every now and again to ensure the interior stays clean.

Temperature Consistency

The Empstorm has an excellent warm plate that keeps brewed coffee warm for 4 hours. Afterward, it automatically shuts off to reduce electric usage and keep households safe.

The box claimed that the maker can keep coffee at 185°F. After I tested this out, I can say that the actual temperature of my brewed coffee was around 175-185°F. When you consider that similar machines around this price range vary a lot more, I was pretty satisfied with the results I got.

However, if you want a more consistent way to get your coffee at the same temperature, the Smeg may be more to your liking.

Programming Abilities

To start with, you can choose between “strong” and “regular” options. In all honesty, I haven’t tried the regular option, as I’ve always opted for the strong choice. What I can tell you is that the strong option is fantastic!

You can also set a timer for when you want the machine to start. However, there is a catch: it can only be programmed within the next 24 hours. I didn’t find this too bad, as I would set the machine to start in the morning before I went to bed.

If you’d prefer a drip coffee maker that can be programmed more than 24 hours in advance, then another machine may be a better option!

We’ve reached the end of my review of the Empstorm 12 cup programmable drip coffee maker review. This maker clearly has a lot to offer for its price, but there are a few downsides. Overall, I think it’s worth a purchase if you’re on a budget and want a machine that produces good-quality coffee and keeps it warm for many hours.
